Deuter

My Brand of Choice for Expeditions

Picture
-"Deuter is one of the leading backpack brands worldwide. Founded in 1898 it has been pioneering premium outdoor equipment for over 115 years. The German brand repeatedly revolutionised the market with innovations such as the first ventilated back system.

From the very first Women On A Mission (WOAM) trek that my co-founders and I organised to Everest Base Camp in 2012, our team has been using Deuter backpacks, sleeping bags and other light dry pack bags. Over the years we've tested the Deuter bags on a number of our expeditions and they have been absolutely fantastic. We've used them in the deserts of Jordan, in the Himalayas and more recently in the Arctic tundra, and during all these expeditions, Deuter bags have never let us down.

The backpacks are very sturdy and have never given us sore backs. The straps that go around the waist don’t cut into you and are in fact very cushy. The ACT Trail Pro 38SL, which we recently used in Iran, is a super technical pack providing top carrying comfort with its compact, yet comfortable fit. The Aircontact Trail Pro System features Auto-Compress hip wings and airy, perforated shoulder straps that kept us cool in the furnace-like Lut desert of Iran.

In the past, we have also used the Trail Pro 28SL packs, which were very versatile. Their lightweight and shape, like the Trail Pro 38SL, cut to fit a woman’s body perfectly,  made them extremely comfortable to use during the long hours of hiking in the snow, desert or in mountains.

Deuter bags are also incredibly practical. While they are top loaded, they often have bottom zippers which make it easy for you to get at your other items at the bottom of the bag. One of my favourite design details is the rain cover, which you can pull out from one of the zipped compartments at the bottom of your backpack. It's a quick and efficient way to cover your bag and protect it from the rain or snow. Of course there are many other little pockets and compartments in the backpack where you can put your CamelBak, camera, snacks, water bottles and other important items. The team and I have also used Deuter's sleeping bags, toiletry bags, money belts, large duffle bags and other travel items all over the world on our various expeditions, and all I can say is that they have always been top quality and incredibly functional.

Deuter is by far my preferred brand when it comes to expeditions bags and equipment, and I am extremely proud to be a Brand Ambassador for Deuter in Singapore."  - Christine Amour-Levar, Founding Partner of WOAM, a non-profit organisation that leads challenging self-funded expeditions to remote locations around the world as a means to raise awareness and funds for humanitarian causes.
